So day 2 of my P90X excursion was brutal! I was off work today, so that was awesome, but the workout today, 'plyometrics', nearly killed me. Tony 'Captain Douche' Horton said the key to this DVD was to think "like a cat." What he meant was for us, the "X-ers", to be light on our feet, considering the entire workout was a series of lunges and jumping. A cat I am not. Well, maybe one of those cats from ancient Egyptian times that lazily sat on gold pillows and ate all day and were worshipped and showered with food gifts, rendering them enormous, and thus worthy of praise. While I didn't sit on a gold pillow, Riley did "worship" me from his monkey bouncer that Aunt Amy gave him, (shout out!!!!) Although in Riley's world, "worship" is loosely translated as blowing spit bubbles, power drooling, laughing, and then having a mega poo blowout in said monkey bouncer, that I am now cleaning. :) Love it!
So thankful am I, (man that sounds like Yoda-speak ;)), that this is an at home DVD series. Why you ask? Not only am I thankful that I can do it with little man watching, but I'm also mega grateful that no one else saw my baby gut making a break for it from under my shirt, or had to watch my milk laden kenickes, (my dad's "endearing" term for breasts, while Joey prefers bubs, and my brother in law Kevin favors dirty pillows ;)), bouncing all over the place; my pre-baby sports bra sure had its work cut out for itself today! All the unwitnessed mortification aside, Riley promised not to tell, I finished and feel quite proud of myself. Yes I am barely able to sit down to go to the bathroom and was barely able to pick up the q-tip I dropped in the bathroom, but I am excited to get my life, and hopefully a smaller ass back!
I am feeling so relieved that I did my workout this afternoon, because I am showered, the baby is asleep (we'll see for how long??), and I can just relax my sore body and watch 'Gilmore Girls.' I am mega missing my California peeps lately. With Joey working so much, all of this lonely home time makes me think of my ladies. Of course I miss my family, duh! But I'm especially missing all of my new mommy friends. Riley and I had such a blast on our last visit down! Going to Nick's with Amy and Miles Jonas ;), Megan and Myles Scrunch ;), and Beth and Hannah was so much fun and so cathartic. (You were missed Kari!) No one can empathize with new mom shenanigans like another new mom. While you know how I loathe the unsolicited old lady baby advice, I LOVE sharing grievances, joys, tips, and stories with new moms.
A new mom would never say, "my baby slept through the night from the second I brought them home" (that's just plain mean!!), or "my daughter was potty trained at 9 months old" (one of my old lady clients actually said that to me, LIAR! is that even physically possible??), or telling me to consult the LaLecheLeague, (should be a four letter word if you ask me:( ), to see that I should not start feeding Riley cereal yet, it will make him sick and he should have only breast milk until he's 1 1/2 years old and I should nurse him til he's 4 years old! (Seriously that was a conversation I had just days ago with another one of my loco clients.) My philosophy is if a kid can ask for it and chew steak, he shouldn't have it. :)
Well I think I've set my blogging record, 3 posts today. More P90X hilarity manana if I can even get out of bed in the morning, yikes bikes!
